"I wasn’t even the clothes on my back. I was just a transient collection of experiences and opinions and hopes, blundering along to the next destination, maybe picking up a few more along the way." ❤

Very timely as I am moving for the first time in 30 years from a small-ish 3 story house to a spacious 1st floor of a duplex. I cannot overestimate the number of times I have thought about how little of my time it will take to clean my new home! I also got a bit burned out by caring for the garden I created. Of course I will likely be an emotional wreck as my house is a jewelbox and so very full of mostly wonderful memories.

But I'm also already planning my housewarming party for some time in April. And I'll be gardening on a smaller scale in various cool pots. I appreciate your comment on getting to know a new place--I'll be getting to know a new neighborhood as I'm staying in the same city.

I’ve lived this, but it was work - various positions and jobs occupied, driven to the next to evade something of myself in the past. And I have a friend, selling the 10th property in only slightly more years, in order to move to some “next.” I’d share this with her, but she’s confident in her belief that there’s nothing but next in her next. We all muddle along, just a bit differently, and occasionally stumble across treasures that make us sure our path was meant to be.

The trick is finding a place with enough room for all the bookcases. Without it being a silly-big place. I think I need a tardis.

And how many boxes of books is normal, anyway? Asking for a friend.

Just thinking about moving again -- I have to go lie down.

Particularly taken with the final sentence.

Wishing you well with all that you are dealing with, and all that you write…so sorry that you have had to make new decisions re publishing…cheering you on.

That line about changing a duvet! There is nothing worse. My husband doesn’t get it, but it’s enough to make me cry.
