(Reposted, free for everyone to read, because I prefer it that way.)
My very good friend Polly Washboards used to curse those portable vacuum cleaners. The times were innumerable when one would snatch at her trailing hem as she passed by with the piss pots for the local tannery.
thank you. I love your posts...and if I had enough money I WOULD be a paid subscriber.
Tom, I would like to support your Substack work (beyond buying your books of course) but my only Substack subs option is £80/year - more than I can currently afford. I think you need a ‘pay what you can afford’ option if you are going over to fully releasing most of your writings. Please let me know if this option is coming!
Love it! Especially the hats of interior stitching.
Thank you !
Bravo for your views on free to read. I have a tiny fraction of your subscribers but I take the same view that people can pay if they want to, but there's nothing extra. Loved this post too!
During my ‘covidlescence’ I’ve been seeking light relief by listening to the Hancock’s Half Hour archive on BBC Sounds. I wish it were possible to hear this piece read by The Lad Himself.
Me too, Tom. I spent much of my childhood in Wethersfield, England. Lots of fond memories.
